“Opal’s Garden is a physical manifestation of the desire to nurture my inner child in everyday life. By creating a space for her to engage in play, I am hoping to ignite the same sense of wonder and whimsy in the installations’ viewers. Every piece was inspired by the inherent attention to detail that occurs organically in our ecosystems, by tales of fairies, color magic and folklore. As you walk through the garden I invite you to take a moment to yourself, allow yourself time and space away from the worries of adulthood, and to simply just exist. From the dragonfly ponds through the flower beds, by the meadow and woods and into the butterfly garden; our inner child may frolic. As the sun shines down through these pieces, rainbows sprinkled throughout the space, know that you are loved. Anywhere these pieces go, the garden goes. Everywhere these pieces exist, they hold space for you to learn, grow and flourish.”

The fundraiser for this year's raffle is going towards the Pious Projects’ Feminine Hygiene kits for women in Gaza, with a goal of $500, providing 25 menstrual kits to those in need. It is estimated that 700,000 women and girls are without proper menstrual care in Gaza. When people do not have access to clean facilities, clean water or proper menstrual products, they are at a significantly higher risk of developing UTI’s, Toxic Shock Syndrome, hepatitis B, thrush and other bacterial infections. When left untreated these can result in birth complications, infertility and death. With the lack of humanitarian aid coming into the country, women have been forced to use clothing scraps, pieces of tents, scraps of towels and baby diapers as pads; using the little supplies they have for dangerous lengths of time, thus increasing their risk of serious medical problems. Countless women have experienced the unimaginable; having undergone C-sections without anesthesia, giving birth without an adequate supply of breastmilk, no ante or post-natal care. As a result of these conditions, some have started taking progesterone pills that delay their menstrual cycle. However, due to the lack of aid getting through the borders, this is not a reliable resource.
